Overview
Deadset Darling is a story-driven visual novel for players who like grounded adult drama over fantasy settings. The tone stays character-focused, with a quiet, personal feel rather than an epic one.
Story
Set in Westbrook, the story follows a male protagonist arriving in a city shaped by strangers, second chances, and unresolved history. Episode 1 opens that beginning, laying groundwork for connections and complications still to unfold.
Gameplay
Players move through narrated scenes and dialogue choices that shape how relationships develop, with a dedicated story mode that removes resource or scheduling pressure in favor of straight reading. An interactive mode is also available for those who want light work-based mechanics alongside the narrative.
Features
- 3D character art paired with animated scenes for key moments
- Choice-driven dialogue that steers how the protagonist connects with others
- Optional interactive mode for players who want light mechanical structure alongside the story
Installation
1. Extract and run.
Changelog
v0.3.1
- There aren’t any major changes, but the story continues a little further. It should add roughly 30+ minutes of new content. Just 173 new renders.
- The personality system has also been reworked. The old system, which could cause hard locks, has been replaced with a more flexible system that gives you more room to plan your choices strategically. I believe the new version is much more balanced.
- Since the branches aren’t all finished yet, when you reach the part where you can text Chelsea, please don’t message her. Choose Ayleen instead, as hers is currently the only completed branch.
- Also, players who are not on Ayleen’s romance path will see a shorter version of her scenes. To unlock the full version, you need to have impressed her through your previous choices.
- Lastly, there were some stuttering and performance issues in the Gallery that apparently nobody had noticed yet. I’ve fixed those as well.
v0.3.0
- 2–2.5 hours of new gameplay (reading dependent)
- More than 1,000 new renders
- 23 animations
- 4 Memory replays
- 43 music tracks
- 79 sound effects
- 3,149 dialogue lines across all branches
- Approximately 17,300 words
- 80 choice menus with 188 individual options
